Weebly Website Creation Reflection

I would give Weebly 3.5 stars. Creating my website was fun, but I didn't enjoy it. One of the benefits was being able to create hyperlinks to and for pretty much everything. One of the limitations was placing features like images or text boxes in the general area you wanted it to be in. I would have been a lot happier if it was sorta like a free for all. If it was a free for all then I could make and customize my own layout, and put features where I want them to be. Maybe I could even fill in a little of the space left. Anyways, here's the link to my unfinished website

11/27/17: Websites

I have never made a website before. I literally make it a point to access my favorite website from my phone unless I'm grounded (which isn't very often). The only thing that makes it easy to use is the fact that it rarely slows down, and you can disable different things so you can ignore other things or people. The layout, color, and design are just a bonus, to be honest.

11/2/17: Restaurant Review

The restaurant I'm going to review is called the Iron Waffle. It's a coffee shop in Steamboat, CL that also makes really awesome waffles. I like it because whenever you walk in, there's a sense of warmness. It smells amazing too. It's like a combination of waffles and coffee, and for some reason it's the like the perfect combination.
The waffles they sell are all different. Even the plain waffle comes with whipped cream and topped with assorted fruits. My mom and my Aunt Deb took me and my cousin Jon there while the rest of our family went skiing. I got the maple bacon waffle and Jon got the dirt waffle. His waffle was pretty much that whole pudding mix thing, but on a waffle and topped with ice cream and whipped cream.
The waffles were very well made. They were warm and full of flavor. Even I can't make a waffle as good as that. I'd recommend trying the maple bacon waffle. It's one of those things that make it so haven't lived until you tried it.

10/31/17: Halloween Traditions

My family doesn't actually have any traditions for Halloween. Every year is different and nothing is ever really the same. I guess when I was little we would go and carve pumpkins. We would always trick or treat, but is it really considered tradition when the people and places always change? The only tradition that I think we'll have just started. It's buying Bella a costume.

10/23/17: The Person I Admire Most

There are a lot of people I admire and I admire them all the same. There is no "most". I didn't know who to choose, so I used one of those name pickers to pick for me. The person that was picked was my papa Dale. I admire my papa because he has a servant heart. He's 81 years old (I think), and in great shape. He is always putting others first (unless he's sick). I have 14 cousins. The oldest just graduated college, one has Down Syndrome, and the last two are eight year old twins. On top of that, my grandma has Dementia and is in a nursing home. Yet somehow my papa is able to manage all of it. I can't even imagine the stress he feels when all 26 of us are together for the holidays. I think that my papa is the most selfless person I know. That's why I admire him.

Infographic Reflection

I made my infographic about some of the stereotypes of depression. I chose this topic because I get stereotyped whenever a person finds out about it. I'm tired of it and it needs to stop! I am actually very happy about how the final product turned out to be. The tool I used was easel.ly.  I used it to make a half informative, half myth busting infographic. Would I recommend this tool anyone? I'm honestly not sure. I would give it 3.5/5 stars. There were quite a few advantages, but I think the main one was the fonts. There were a few disadvantages, but the biggest one I had was not being able to make a pie chart on there. I literally had to google for websites that specialized in pie chart making. I guess I could use this tool in the future for other subjects. I mean, I've already used it for a history project.

10/19/17: Dream Vacation

I don't have a dream vacation at the moment. Therefore, I will just say that my dream vacation takes place in my room. I will see my family. I will eat whatever is in the pantry downstairs. I will watch movies on my phone. I would go with myself.

10/16/17: Introduction to Infographics

An infographic is a way to send information across social media. The purpose of an infographic is to be able to share messages, take authority, and drive traffic and shares across the social platform. The best information to be displayed would have to be about businesses across a range of industries. An infograph can convey the message to people in quite a few way. A few of the way included are keeping it visual and keeping it focused. If I used an infographic in an assignment, then it would be one of the first things I would use. Because infographics are supposed to be visual and target the audience, it would attract their attention easier. Sometimes people don't pay attention unless something interesting and different is included. It could also just be the assignment as a whole. If infographics are supposed to share information, then why not just use it for an entire assignment? It would make the assignment a lot more fun to do.

10/9/17: Homecoming Weekend

My homecoming weekend was a blast. We met at my house first so everyone could drop off their overnight stuff. After that we took pictures on our porch (literally none of us liked that) for 15 minutes. Then we headed over to the lake to finish the pictures. The picture above is one of my favorite pictures at the lake. We all just look so happy and it makes me smile when I see it.
After pictures, we went to Sunset Grill and Freezing Moo. It was crazy and loud, but it was a fun time. At Sunset Grill we all ordered salad except for Rose and Ellie. Rose finished her pasta in five minutes and 50-something seconds, by the way. Then we went to Freezing Moo for dessert. It wasn't really busy, and that honestly surprised us. There were several pictures taken, but the one above is my favorite because it's the only picture not embarrassing. After Freezing Moo, we went to the dance and had a ball (pun intended) and one of us might've gotten a potential boyfriend.
After the dance we all came back to my house for the after party. We had a lot of fun as we  played games and tried to figure out a ship name for Rose and the guy she met. It was a sleepover so we didn’t sleep until like 3:30 am. Everyone left around noon on Sunday, and about half of them forgot something. They always forget something.

9/29/2017: Evernote Review

Evernote is basically just online note taking. I would probably give Evernote 3.5 stars out of  stars. As much as I like typing, I absolutely hate typing notes! To me there are no good benefits from this. I could literally do the same thing on Google Drive, and it would basically have the same outcome. The only limitation was when I had to verify my email. I could use Evernote in the future for taking notes that I probably won't need after while, but I'd rather use my Google Drive. I've had that account much longer and I'm already used to it..

9/25/17: Highlight Reels

I definitely agree with the passage. It seems like so many people try to make themselves feel better, so they post the fun stuff. Social media can become a highlight reel so easily because it's so easy to get caught up and wishing that you had the life of the people you follow. I think that some of the dangers include seeing a post and then looking for one of your own because it's "better" and you want to one-up the other person. Soon it just becomes like a small competition to see who has the "better" life. I guess my biggest take away is just the fact that my life is the "perfect" example for others when they see it on social media. This ties into my digital life because I do the same. I see all these posts about how great someone's life is, and I get somewhat jealous. It makes me want to scroll through my pictures just to find a better one. I do it because if I post a good picture, then I don't have to admit all the crap I deal with

9/22/2017: Our Digital Life

A digital footprint is some of what you leave behind when you're on certain (most) websites. A digital citizenship is like having social media...at least that's what I think. There are many different ways to be digitally responsible, but I'm only listing 10.

1. Make your social media accounts private. It stops random people from finding and using your pictures and posts for advertising.
2. Don't post things you shouldn't. It could ruin your chances of getting a job(s)
3. Don't give anyone your information...like for anything!
4. Stop trusting someone you've never even met
5. Be careful of the things you google
6. Limit the amount of time you spend on social media
7. Don't trust everything you read
8. Sometimes an unfamiliar link that someone you don't know messages you, could actually be a virus
9. Don't let your phone or anything like that distract you before it's too late
10. Your phone isn't the most important thing on earth. Take a break from it3

9/22/2017: Social Bookmarking Reflection

My experience with bookmarking with Chrome and Symbaloo was pretty good. There was really only one comparison that I noticed, and it was being able to save certain websites to a place I know I can easily find them. There were a lot of differences between the two. With Chrome all you had to do was go to website and bookmark it into the bar thingy that you see when you first open the browser. With Symbaloo you had more options. You're able to make and add different tabs that contain organized websites under specific categories, you can search and add websites to tiles without leaving the website, and you can also customize it. I like Symbaloo the best (obviously). I can't think of a time when I would decide that using Chrome would be better.

9/19/2017: Introduction to Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is basically tagging a web page with web-based tools so you can access it with ease later. The purpose of social bookmarking is to help access things easier. It's kind of like an intelligent search engine. The only book marking tools I really use are Google, Outlook 365, and Polyvore. I don't really even remember how I learned to use it to be honest. I guess I just figured it out one day without even knowing. The website I use the most is Polyvore. Then Canvas, gmail, and Outlook 365. That's really about it.

9/18/2017: Connected, but Alone?

The Ted Talk was basically about how the generations depend on their technology for everything. It includes having conversations, interacting with others online, it also distracts you from the human world. The name of this talk is called Connected, but Alone?

My biggest take away, or my "biggest" take away? I honestly am not sure I actually got one this time. It's kind of hard to get something out of this when only about 1/3 applies to your daily life. I think that it depends on whether or not we're connected, yet still alone. I know it's 2017 and all, but most people I'm around don't really use their phones much. I have 21 people on my dad's side and I rarely see them on their phones when we're together.

I have a love hate relationship when it comes to living in this age. I love it because I'm able to contact my birth mom (who lives in FL), some of it gives me entertainment, and also because it's an escape from awkward situations.

I usually last about 6 hours a day without my phone if you add it all together. It used to be more, but then my phone started glitching. I'm also not really sure if I feel like I'm "editing" myself when I'm online. Most of the time I'm just online so I can designing clothing sets on Polyvore, googling answers, or finding recipes. I'm not really one for social media. So all in all, I would say that my online self is just myself.

If I could choose to either text or have a conversation with someone, then I don't know what I would choose. It really depends on the situation or the person. I'd rather just keep to myself unless I'm talking to my counselor or friends. With my counselor I can already trust that she won't repeat anything unless it's serious. It's kinda her job. Same with my friends.

When I'm not using technology I like to spend my time in the kitchen making food, or in my room designing outfits on Polyvore or talking to friends in our group chat. I also just like to color in my Doctor Who coloring book. Sometimes I think it's just better to unplug and bring yourself back into the world without the distraction of the technology in front of you.

My Dream Business

I chose to use Canva for my business. Just keep in mind that I used it because it had different fonts and colors (I still don't like it). The business I chose was a restaurant and culinary institute called Silent Dining. I realized I could't do both, so I decided to combine them. I chose this business because I love making food for others, and I like to teach it as well. I also chose this business because the disabled people I work with tell me their story (if they can) and inspire me to help them in ways they need. Silent Dining will be located where Take Five Coffee and Bar used to be on a 151st and Nall. If I'm successful, then maybe I'll open another one near Olathe Medical Center. Even though this restaurant was inspired by the d/Deaf community, our goal is to provide full, efficient, and very flexible service for every disabled person that steps foot (or wheels) into our restaurant. I plan to serve every customer their food without doubting them, and with the respect they deserve and need.

9/12/17: Gratitude

Here are three things I'm thankful for:

1. I'm thankful that my birth mom was able to evacuate Davis Island (Tampa Bay) to LA before Hurricane Irma made landfall.

2. I'm thankful for my baby

3. I'm thankful for the rest of my family and friends who keep me sane.

Lucid Press Magazine and Motivational/Sports Poster

I would just like to say that I like LucidPress a lot better than I like Canva. I liked how I was able to give each letter a color unlike Canva. The only thing I don't really like is that they limit your options whenever you want to change something. Other than that, LucidPress was so much better than Canva. I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Canva Creations: Magazine Cover + Motivational/Sports Poster

I'm just gonna be flat out honest and say that I don't like Canva. I've been using Canva for about two years now and my experience hasn't gotten much better. There are over a thousand pictures on there, yet they never really have what I wanted. It took me an hour last night to find the right picture for my poster (I had to Google it). I'm going to go ahead and give Canva 2.5 stars out of five.

9/05/17 My Weekend

My weekend was more depressing than it was fun. It started off on Friday night with a visitation for a really close neighbor who recently died this past week. On Saturday the visitation was followed by a funeral and a wake. I missed the funeral to help set up the wake. I guess it was fun, but the setup felt like forever. I guess a highlight was being able to share the memories I had of Jean to her family. She watched me grow up. I also had a sleepover, it was fun.
